I'm considering basically putting a self-imposed ban on dev projects for some time. The reason is simple: I want to do other things with my time, but dev projects keep pulling me back.
It's not even external forces, its that I like dev projects. I like tinkering on code projects. However, there are more important things I need to do. I can tinker on dev projects when i have time for video games again: Someday.
I haven't actually put this into force yet though, its under consideration. My latest dev project did use a tool that I'm currently using to write this post. It's definitely rewarding using your own tools.

There's an image of my current dev project. It can be summoned in front of any app i'm using and allows me to speak and have my speech transcribed.. In other words, it saves me from having to type.
It's not much to look at though because its core functionality is showing that little animation while you're recording and then pasting what you just said as text into whatever app you're using.
I'm still amazed at how well whisper works for transcribing text. Also how fast it is. Admittedly, I'm using a pretty fast computer, so it might not be universally fast, but for my use case, it works really well.
_(All of the text above was dictated. I had to manually insert these parens though.)_
