A look at how i'm pregressing towards my [[Goals 2025|Goals for 20235]].
## On track
- notes. although my cadence has dropped off quite a bit, i've continued to post notes to the this site and might have even hit my secondary goal of 40 notes by now, i haven't counted
- gym consistency.
- i even got fancy with mesocycle planning and made a figma for it: https://www.figma.com/board/az9Uj0qXoxRcdkdz8nXC5u/Mesocycle----May-2025?node-id=0-1&t=TcNy0KgAUjEWiH13-1

- v-shaped body? this is probably on track, one hopes. Initially my plan was: get slim first, get ripped second. cut then bulk. however, half way through my cut i switched to weight maintenance and then bulking.
- i'm eating a lot now, sometimes hitting 3000 calories in a day.
- i'm noticably thicker, although not a lot thicker. its confirmation that i'm on the right track, although i must admit to being a bit disappointed in the rate of muscle growth. faster faster faster! it makes me wonder how I would have done if I had started at 25 rather than 35.
- still, this is going well. im on the right track. v-shaped physique = less fat + more muscle. since its reportedly very difficult to achieve these concurrently i'll have to do them sequentially.
- I have not yet planned out the rest of the year, but my rough plan is to continue the weight gain routine for more than half of the remaining year.
## Not on track
- youtube 100. at my current rate there is no way i'll get to 100 videos this year. i'm at less than 20 and it's March.
- when i first set the goal the process goal was 2 videos per week. i have since adjusted to 1 per week, and I have not been consistent with that either.
- on average i'm still at about 1 video per week since I had been publishing 2 per week initially.
- the youtube project has not reached escape velocity. even as my stats improve (i.e. getting to 100 subscribers) the external motivation i thought would manifest did not. unlike the gym which now feels more or less effortless, youtube takes significant mental energy and willpower to keep up.
- better Chinese.
- as noted above, i need a goal and a way to get reps in essay writing or monologue
- i need types of reps that i simply don't get in day to day life or conversation with Emma.
- my initial thinking is to make Chinese youtube videos.
# Misc
- I continue to want a more effective task management tool, but it's all too vague.
- I want superhuman basically, but for tasks not email. Everything besides email in fact
- Linear is great for projects but I have yet to shoehorn it into my task workflow. Doable? I need
- quick capture
- Quick defer to future
- Quick archive / send to the void of wontfix
- sleep is going OK.
- i've stopped worrying about it. i generally get to sleep around 10, wake up between 5-7, with any time in that range being fine with me
- the thing is i still wake up at night, but usually get back to sleep quickly enough that i don't think its a significant issue
- of course, i could reclaim a significant amount of time if i could actually sleep through the night consistently. room for improvement:
- don't sleep in the same room where you work. this is a problem right now because emma's mom is staying with us, so the usual room i would use is taken
- no lights in the sleep space. relates to the above since an easy option is to have all the electronics in another room
- no noise. this means no creaky items. somehow my monitor with stand and the table its on seem to invariably creak in the night. sometimes it disturbs my fall into sleep.
- nose breathing: this one i think would take some surgery. something to look into though. i simply can almost never breath out of both nostrils at once, which means airflow is not enough for normal breathing. mouth-breathing results.
